Gameplay takes place on a 3D planet, with lanes from the north to south poles. The planet slowly rotates, and players need to stay on the "sunny" half to survive. Also, map objectives become physically inaccessible or disappear for a while, as new ones are steadily rotated in. This creates a natural pacing for when objectives will come up, and pressures teams with the advantage to claim as much as possible from the map before it vanishes into the dusk.
The heroes are sci-fi interpretations of the greek gods, and several of them can fly by default. This is balanced as one of the "summoner spells" in the game can temporarily disable flight.
Ascendant One was developed in Korea using the Unreal Engine.
'The Dawngate Revival Project' started as a fan project in 2017 to recreate the experience of playing Dawngate using the game's original assets. It has been under slow and steady development ever since.
In 2020, the team approached EA about acquiring the Dawngate IP, and ran a kickstarter with that aim raising over $100k. While it was not possible to secure the IP, they decided to continue developing a game under the new name of 'Dreambound', featuring original IP.
Updates about the game ceased in 2022.
A recreation of Paragon, announced two months before the official assets were made available by Epic Games in March 2018. Approximately 10 months into the project, various internal issues led to the team's dissolution.
