Players design their own character as a persistent avatar which they may bring into battle. It can have a custom size, shape, clothing, and facial features to suit the player's preferences.

The avatar's choice of weapons and armour will affect its base stats, and which abilities it may access from the large pool available. The mastery of the game is intended to be in its "RPG-style" character creation. During a match, players can level up the skills they chose as a form of temporary progression.

There are expected to be three lanes and two jungles, with a neutral area near the center of each lane which may be captured.

Citing DotA and League of Legends as inspiration, Eterlands adds an interactive physical environment with cliffs, trees that can be chopped down and dragged, bridges and rock walls which can be destroyed, and breaking dams to flood parts of the map which will slow enemies down. There is also a dynamic weather system.

The game seems to have never left concept phase, and available footage is minimal.

Heroes can freely alternate between battling on land, or taking off to fight in the air. Players battle over control points using a customised army, and can pick units up with their airmech to drop them off elsewhere. There are many maps to choose from.

Has multiple bosses, and various combinations of beating them levels up your army. Also the first lane-pushing game to introduce quest items.
